Carl malmsten (Sweden, 1888-1972)
Karl Malmsten is not only one of Sweden's most famous furniture designers, but also one of the great cultural figures of the 20th century, having a strong influence on the domestic environment, public environment and contemporary public discourse. It is a person who is also described as Fin Juhl of Sweden who gave.
He was an architect, furniture designer and educator known for his dedication to traditional Swedish craftsmanship and his opposition to functionalism.
Malmsten's career began in 1916 when he won a competition to design the furniture for Stockholm's city hall (stadshus), and in 1917 he joined renowned Swedish architects such as Gunnar Asplund and Uno Ohlen. I exhibited my work.
He founded the eponymous interior shop on Stockholm's riverfront, which is still run by his grandson today.
Malmsten has had a lasting impact on Swedish furniture design through the two schools he founded. Carl Malmstensskolan has been part of the Linköping University since 2000 and is located on the island of Lydinge outside Stockholm.
