Hand-drawn. Kacho-e is a style that respects realism.
Sometsuke porcelain began in Japan around the beginning of the 17th century, when Imari ware (= Arita ware) was the first to produce sometsuke porcelain, inspired by Chinese porcelain that had been imported until then. Patterns are drawn on the unglazed white pottery with a paint called Gosu, which contains cobalt, and then a clear glaze is applied and fired.
