- KURT USTVI/WOODSHELF
Product number: VT015
Designer name: Kurt Ostervig
Design Year: 1950s
Wood shelf designed by Danish designer Kurt Ustvi in the 1950s.
By carefully cutting the corners of the frame and top plate, it has a linear design, but it has a soft and smooth appearance.
The top plate is movable. The loose design does not feel oppressive, and you can fully enjoy the beautiful wood texture of teak wood as a bookshelf or as a display rack.
Kurt Ostervig/ (Denmark, 1912-1986) About Kurt Ostervig
Kurt Ustvi started his career as a naval architect in Odense, Denmark's third largest city. In 1947, he became independent and collaborated with a Danish furniture brand to create many works. He used oak as his main material, but there are also some models in rosewood and teak.
As well as being a cabinet maker, Ustvi was an artist known for his naturalist depictions. In addition to furniture, Ustvi is also known for his work on private houses, ships, nursing homes, hotels, and movie theaters. Ustovy furniture continues to be produced today, but the pieces produced around the 1960s are extremely valuable and are still highly regarded around the world.
